Lower Wharfedale, by Harry Speight :

"being a complete a complete account of the History, Antiquities and Scenery of the picturesque valley of the Wharfe from Cawood to Arthington." This book covers the following places:- Cawood, Ryther, Church Fenton, Bolton Percy, Appleton Roebuck, Nun Appleton, Colton, Steeton, Bilbrough, Kirkby Wharfe, Grimston Park, Ulleskelf, Towton, Saxton, Aberford, Tadcaster, Newton Kyme, Wighill, Healaugh, Oglethorpe, Walton, Synningthwaite, Bramham, Boston Spa, Thorp Arch, Wetherby, Micklethwaite, Collingham, Bardsey, East Keswick, Wike, Harewood, Weeton, Creskeld and Arthington. It includes lots of photos of places and people, along with pedigrees for a lot of the more eminent families:- Ryder, Holden, Fairfax, Percy, Batty & Tuke, Bellhouse, Stapleton, Oglethorpe, Atkinson, Redman, Mawde (Maude), Arthington and Rhodes.

Lower Wharfeland (Wharefedale on the cover, Wharfeland on the title page), by Edmund Bogg:

"being a description of its picturesque features, History, Antiquities, Rare Architecture, Legendary Lore and its Flora." This book covers more or less the same places as those in the Harry Speight's book, but deals also with York and some more of the places within the Ainsty (i.e. it follows the Ouse up to York). Contains lots of photographs and drawings.

The History of Sherburn and Cawood, by W. Wheater:

"The History of the parishes of Sherburn (in Elmet) and Cawood, with notices of Wistow, Saxton, Towton &c." The book covers additionally: Micklefield, Newthorpe, Barkston, Steeton, Huddleston, Lotherton, Rest Park, with chapters on the Gascoingnes, Vavasours, and a list of eminent men. There is lots of detail, extracts from parish registers and vistitations, transcriptions of church memorials and lots more.
