"South Yorkshire" (a history of the Deanery of Doncaster), by The Revd. Joseph Hunter: These two volumes comprise a detailed history of the Deanery of Doncaster up to around 1825. These two very rare and expensive volumes will cost you over £600 in good condition. Volume I was published in 1828 and contains over 450 pages, volume II in 1831 and contains over 500 pages. Every parish and most of the places in the deanery of Doncaster are covered (see the Contents for a list), with well over 200 eminent family pedigrees given - for details of the families given in the pedigrees, please see the two index transcriptions shown below. There are 18 detailed plates with amazing detail, and also 18 vignettes (part page drawings). Both of the coloured maps and the plan of Doncaster are included. There are a total of 3 maps, one is a single page and is the plan of Doncaster, the other two are full double pages, one showing the parishes of the Deanery of Doncaster, and the other the feudal areas.
