This book of well over 600 pages is divided into two sections plus the (large) appendix: the first section covers the history of Cleveland up to and including the Norman conquest, with the second section covering from the conquest onwards, dealing with each of the parishes individually: Gisborough, Skelton, Loftus, Egton, Upleatham, Stokesley, Kildale, Whorlton, Hutton Rudby, Crathorne, Yarm, Acklam and Marton. Middleburgh (Middlesborough) is included with Acklam. There are some 44 pedigrees ranging in size from a few lines to large "pull out" pages, and also numerous drawings and plates as listed below.
